Our farm
A small farm that never learned to hurry.
Uppalapati Farms sits on the Kakinada Road, where the herd is cared for by hand and the ghee is made the way it was made before machines made it faster.
Our story
It started with one copper churn.
What began as a family habit — churning ghee for our own kitchen, the way the household has for generations — slowly became a second job. Neighbours asked. Then the street. Then the town.
We were never trying to build a large dairy. We wanted to keep the herd small enough to know every animal by name, and the process slow enough that we could still taste the difference when something changed.
That is the whole idea behind this site: nothing here is scaled up, rushed, or blended to hit a number.
The method
Bilona, the way it is meant to be.
Milk. Collected from our own herd each morning. A cow's milk is at its richest a few hours after milking, so nothing sits overnight before it is set.
Curd. The milk is warmed and left to set naturally into curd. Patience here decides the flavour — rushed curd gives a thin, buttery ghee.
Churning. The curd is churned slowly by hand until the butter separates and the ghee rises clear and golden.
Jarred. The same day, into food-grade glass, sealed and labelled on the farm. No preservatives, because the process does not need them.
